Homer
Homer was an ancient Greek epic poet. He is the author of the,'Iliad and Odyssey' epics and Homeric hymns. The influence of these two epics on the general history of fiction and literature is immense. Homer is thought to have been born shortly before the Battle of Troy (1194-1184 BC). But according to Herodotus, Homer existed four hundred years before Herodotus' birth, around 850 BC. There has been considerable controversy in antiquity over Homer's time, even today. His writings are influenced by passionate oral poetry. It was from Homer's epics that the Western literary genre originated, and his writings on Western art and philosophy had a great influence.

সিরাজুল ইসলাম চৌধুরী (জন্ম ২৩ জুন, ১৯৩৬) একজন বাংলাদেশি লেখক, প্রাবন্ধিক ও শিক্ষক। দীর্ঘকাল তিনি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ইংরেজি ভাষা ও সাহিত্য বিভাগে অধ্যাপনা করেছেন। তিনি মার্কসবাদী চিন্তা-চেতনায় উদ্বুদ্ধ এবং[তথ্যসূত্র প্রয়োজন] নতুন দিগন্ত পত্রিকার প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সম্পাদক। ১৯৮০-এর দশকে "গাছপাথর" ছদ্মনামে তিনি দৈনিক সংবাদ পত্রিকায় সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক বিষয়ে সাপ্তাহিক প্রতিবেদন লিখে খ্যাতি অর্জন করেন।শিক্ষায় অবদানের জন্য তিনি ১৯৯৬ সালে বাংলাদেশ সরকার কর্তৃক প্রদত্ত দ্বিতীয় সর্বোচ্চ বেসামরিক সম্মাননা একুশে পদকে ভূষিত হন।
